Terms & Conditions
INTRODUCTION
Girotondo Italian School (Girotondo) is a Scottish Charity Incorporated Organisation ( (SCIO n. SC049175). Girotondo's main purpose is to advance the education of persons of Italian descent and the wider Italian community in Edinburgh. Girotondo does this through providing or assisting in the provision of courses in Italian language and culture.
Girotondo's funding is made up of an annual contribution from the Italian government, payments made by families whose children attend these courses and by other local support. In addition to the teachers who are employed locally by Girotondo on a part-time basis, the Italian government also makes available, free of charge, many teachers qualified in Italy who are then assigned to teach in Edinburgh. These teachers are not employed by Girotondo but operate under the direction of the Italian Department of Education. Girotondo is a non-profit making organisation whose funds are limited and these terms and conditions should be read with that in mind.
PAYMENTS
An annual membership of 40 GBP + an annual fee of 140 GBP per pupil (with a 39% discount for siblings) covers the course for the full year.
This is an annual course. No refund or compensation is available for non attendance.
Girotondo reserves the right not to institute courses where less than 8 students have enrolled and paid the annual contribution. In cases where a course is not instituted due to insufficient numbers, any payments made will be refunded. Please note that Girotondo cannot guarantee that a course will take place at the same time as in the previous academic year.
Girotondo also reserves the right, in the case of non-payment of the annual contribution, to exclude a student from a course or cancel a course entirely.
Absence of a student through illness or any other reason will not result in the remission of any sums paid, other than at the entire discretion of Girotondo.
Similarly, although Girotondo will do what it can to ensure that a teacher is available for every scheduled lesson, no refund or remission of amounts paid or payable will be made for cancellation of lessons as a result of teacher absence or for any other reason.
BEHAVIOUR
Whilst on or near the host premises, all students, parents and carers must conduct themselves in a proper and orderly manner, show consideration for others and not cause damage, annoyance, distress or offence to others. Girotondo reserves the right to refuse to teach any student who fails (or whose parents or carers fail) to behave in this way and where necessary to exclude the student from the relevant course.
Students should arrive punctually for their lessons. Parents/carers are responsible for ensuring that the students reach the relevant classroom and are collected at the end of the lesson.
EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY
To the extent permitted by law, Girotondo excludes all liability for personal injury to any person attending its courses or present on the host premises as result of accident, fire, theft or any other cause.
Girotondo also excludes all liability for damage to or loss of personal property on the host premises by as a result of accident, fire, theft or any other cause.
